Ronald McDonald Houses are the cornerstone of the Charity. Annually the Charity grants funds to children's charities throughout the Outstate area (outside greater Detroit). Unfortunately he was born with a congenital heart defect and passed away just 10 short days after birth. Turning tragedy into good, the Kappes Family established the Ryan Scott Kappes Foundation to support families of ill children and also pediatric cardiac research.
